About Us |
Hart County (HFH) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing in Hart County. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Partner families invest hundreds of hours of labor -"sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go to purchase land and materials to build more houses. Partner families are selected without consideration of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, but preference is given to applicants who have demonstrated family stability and have lived in Hart County for at least 3 years. Applicants for a Hart county Habitat house are solicited periodically, depending on when resources are available. See the PARTNER FAMILIES page for more information on criteria for applying. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. For information about making tax-deductible donations, see the GET INVOLVED page. |

Amazing Hartwell Housing RaceWe are excited about our progress with our current project, the 2023 Amazing Hartwell Housing Race! The Hart County Habitat for Humanity and the Hartwell GICH are working together on the 2023 Rome/Richardson Neighborhood Revitalization project. This project is currently underway, and we would like to give a huge thank you to our current 2023 corporate sponsors, Synovus, McDonald's of Hartwell, Summit Ace, Pilgrim’s Pride and Haering Manufacturing! Our plan for this project is to create separate teams of women who "race" to the finish for each of their separate tasks and goals. Our hopes for this year are not only to just build homes, but our goal is to have our community come together to support these women and this project, whether that is through donations or volunteering! More information for donors and volunteers can be found on this website. We hope that through the support of our sponsors and the sacrifice of our volunteers, we can let Christ's love shine on these women and on our community!
